Let them eat ICE CREAM!
We teamed up with Beckon Ice Cream to celebrate National Ice Cream Month with not just one, but TWO, sweet events.
Friends turned Founders, Gwen & Katy, decided that no one should have to miss out on ice cream because of lactose intolerance, so they teamed up to bring the joy of real ice cream to all with Beckon Ice Cream. The team had BIG plans to celebrate National Ice Cream Day in their home city of Boston. We planned to pop-up in Boston's popular, Rowes Wharf Plaza in the Rose Kennedy Greenway, with a vintage pickup truck as the team would be passing out FREE samples of their new product, Snack Cups.
Cut to the day of our planned event and let's just say, there were sprinkles...and we're not talking the colorful topping kind of sprinkles...
We could have went forward with our original plan but we knew that the event would not be executed in the way we all envisioned, so we took a rain check for the following weekend and came up with a new plan!
The Beckon team took to their social media and called for ice cream lovers across the city to message their addresses to them for a chance to receive an at-home ice cream delivery. The addresses began pouring in so we took to the streets and delivered ice cream in colorful Igloo coolers donned with Beckon branding across Boston. We hit popular locations across the city and passed out samples from custom branded Snack Cup replicas.
National Ice Cream Day was a sweet success, but there were still more celebrations to be had. The following Saturday, we were ready to move forward with our originally planned activation. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day for some free ice cream! We dressed up an already impressive vintage red pickup truck with magnet graphics, a colorful honeycomb arch, signage, and lots of blankets and pillows were staged in the truck bed. The plaza was packed with patrons who couldn't resist stopping by the truck to enjoy their free ice cream samples.
Beckon was able to capture potential new customer information through QR codes that directed each to a quick survey. Attendees received their Snack Cup flavor of choice and a number of lucky recipients also snagged some sweet Beckon merch! Towards the end of the day, we hopped over to the Trillium Garden on the Greenway and surprised patrons with snack cups to enjoy alongside their Saturday evening brews.
As National Ice Cream Month drew to a close, we were sad to no longer have an excuse to indulge in ice cream daily (but really, who is stopping us?). We look forward to celebrating ice cream all year long and bringing even sweeter experiences to life next July!
